Gadget Bag

This is what’s living in my gadget bag as of Oct 2006

The Bag:

Waterfield Cozmo

Mini-review: I love this bag; it’s the finest one I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. It is hand made in San Francisco by Waterfield Designs and is both gorgeously made and cleverly designed. All of their bags are stylish without appearing unprofessional. Futhermore, the customer service is excellent. I originally ordered a medium size Cozmo which turned out to be too small. I called them up and they were happy to credit the full purchase price towards a large. I also have one of Waterfield’s sleeve cases designed to protect my G4 Powerbook and which fits perfectly inside this bag as well as their iSight case. I have nothing but praise these products.

The Mac:

Theresa
2.0 GHz Macbook

Mini-review: Not much to say. Theresa has been a trooper, though I think I may have to send her in as she’s suffering from the dreaded discoloration issues.

The Phone:

Treo 650

Mini-review: Over a year old but still the best smartphone–highly recommended. Email and web browsing on the go. Palm OS programs and games. Bluetooth for both headset and syncing (even Dial-Up Networking to the Mac). More soon.

The ‘phones:

Etymotic ER-6

Mini-review: Blissful isolation! Put these things on and you’re in your own world–particularly useful for airplane flights. The sound quality is excellent if not the best possible. Nonetheless, still a good bargain at around one C-note.

The iPod:

iPod Photo (30GB)

Mini-review: I’ve been iPodding sinc before iPodding was cool. I bought a 1G iPod way back in December 2001, before I even had my first Mac (and those 1G iPods were not PC compatible–I had to use a Mac in Cornell’s computer lab to load music onto it! In fact, I’m one of those “halo effect” guys–I bought my first mac (a 550MHz G4 TiBook) because I was so impressed with the iPod). That iPod finally died last year and I recieved this one as a gift to replace it. I must admit to being slightly envious of my fiancee’s 5G video iPod, but this one is still going strong, so I can’t justify the upgrade.

The Game:

Sony PSP

What I’m Playing: Sid Meier’s Pirates! (9.5/10), Air Combat X (8.5/10), Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (Still Evaluating), Tekken (8/10), NCAA Football 07 (9/10)
Quick Reviews of Old Favorites: Burnout Legends (7.5/10), Daxter (8/10), Field Commander (SE), MLB06: The Show (9/10), NAMCO Museum (7/10), SOCOMM: Fireteam Bravo (8/10), VirtuaTennis (8/10).

The Camera:

Casio EX-Z750 (7.2MP)

Mini-review: A bargain for the featuresI It’s fast (starting up and shooting) and has amazing battery life. For the scoop on this camera, see this post over at Mike Davidson’s blog.
